Present- Sept. 11th - Project Light is gearing up
heavily for the Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk.
In order to reach
as many people as possible we need materials out in the community.
Volunteers are being sough to take materials and as they
are out being active to post them. Post them at work, school,
coffeehouse,
stores, etc. Contact within to get posters and others supplies
to you.
September 13th 11am-2pm - Walkers are needed to join us for
the Suicides Prevention Out of the Darkness Walk at Prairie
View Park
in Kalamazoo. Our team of walkers is raising awareness,
education and funds relating to GLBT youth needs in suicide
prevention. Can

Month of October - As we gear up for the GLBT Mental Health
Forum. Volunteers are needed to take flyers and posters from
us
and post them throughout the communities of Michigan. Students are sought
for various campuses, such as WMU, KVCC, GVSU, and
others for posting. Contact within to connected with supplies
November 1st 10am-5pm - Volunteers needed from set up to
tear down of our GLBT Mental Health Education Forum hosted
at the Wesley
Foundation on WMU main campus in Kalamazoo. This
event will need people for food services, sound system knowledge,
meet and greet,
handling a high volume of calls, organizing many
tabling organizations.

If you cannot develop a plan and a suicide attempt is imminent, seek
outside emergency help from a hospital, mental health clinic or

Signs of SUICIDE
- A tendency toward isolation and social withdrawal
- Increasing substance abuse
- Expression of negative attitudes toward self
- Expression of hopelessness or helplessness
- Loss of interest in usual activities
- Giving away valued possessions
- Expression of a lack of future orientation: "It won't matter
soon anyway."
