What is Project Light?

In Nov. 2007 after the loss of a young transgendered person in West Michigan, Project Light started as an idea for an education forum on LBGT mental health. Working in the community we organized and hosted a Forum to discuss the needs of LBGT youth’s mental health. In January 2008, it was proposed and accepted in March 2008 as a program of the Kalamazoo Gay/Lesbian Resource Center.

During the year, Project Light attends youth events, making sure that as many youth are aware of our light in a dark time to help with mental health issues and coming out.

If you or anyone you know is in crisis please call the Trevor Project Hotline: 866.488.7366
